About

The Congressional Ferry Caucus aims to promote the benefits of and advocate for long-term federal investment in public ferry systems, including marine, shoreside, and workforce needs. The Caucus educates Members of Congress on the vital role ferries play in America’s transportation network — connecting both urban and rural communities to jobs, schools, healthcare, and recreation.

Since its launch on June 16, 2025, the Ferry Caucus has worked to elevate the voices of ferry-dependent communities and strengthen federal partnerships to ensure these essential waterways remain reliable, safe, and resilient. Read more here.

On January 14, 2026, the Caucus convened its first roundtable discussion with Members and key stakeholders from across the country to identify shared challenges and explore federal solutions to modernize fleets, strengthen infrastructure, and support ferry workers. Read more here.

Building on these conversations, the Caucus is proud to introduce its first piece of legislation: the Federal Enhancement and Revitalization of Reliable Infrastructure for Essential Seaways (FERRIES) Act. This bill prioritizes long-term investment in ferry infrastructure, workforce development, and system reliability to ensure communities across the country can depend on safe and efficient ferry service for generations to come.
