PSRC sent a letter signed by 42 local elected officials in support of the FERRIES Act (H.R. 7774) to Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee leadership, requesting that the legislation be included in the upcoming Surface Transportation Reauthorization.
The Public Ferry Coalition earlier this month welcomed the introduction of the bipartisan Federal Enhancement and Revitalization of Reliable Infrastructure for Essential Seaways (FERRIES) Act, landmark legislation that would significantly increase and stabilize federal funding for ferry systems across the United States. The bill recognizes ferries as essential transportation lifelines that connect communities, support local economies, and provide safe, reliable mobility for millions of riders each year.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Emily Randall (D, WA-06), alongside Ferry Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Nick Begich (R, AK-At-Large), John Garamendi (D, CA-03), and Nicole Malliotakis (R, NY-11), introduced the Federal Enhancement and Revitalization of Reliable Infrastructure for Essential Seaways (FERRIES) Act. The bill would significantly increase federal investments in ferry systems, providing long-term, predictable funding for ferry operators that connect communities across the country.
